Richie Allbright Country Troubadour

So you say that authentic country music is dead or it has become watered down. You say there is no true art in the music anymore. Well, you would be wrong. Let me introduce you to Texas singer and songwriter Richie Allbright. Allbright has a unique sound that can be defined as real, raw and honest. His southern drawl combined with honest real life lyrics are a match made in Heaven. Lyrics like “Well I’ve been in love, and I’ve had broken hearts; I’ve got it together, and I’ve fallen apart; I’ve danced with the devil, and I’ve reached for the stars; But nobody told me, it was gonna be this hard.” are from real-life experiences that all of us can relate to. If you are a fan of Paycheck, Jennings, and George Jones, then this is up your alley. ‘Kickin’ Down The Doors’ features an insight into the trials and tribulations of a man who is not afraid to openly share his life story and is proud of his “traditional sound.” His latest single ,“You Can’t Take Away My Music,” featuring Jarrod Birmingham is currently rising on the charts and it’s safe to say that real country music is still alive and well. Let’s meet the country troubadour Richie Allbright..

1 — Tell us a bit about who you are?

I’m just a country singer/songwriter from South Texas that’s still out here doing my thing after all these years. Very interesting years!!!! As well as a husband, father, and grandfather.

2 — How did you decide to give music a try ?

I don’t think I ever actually decided to do anything. I just always knew that it was what I was put here to do, even from a very young age. It never has really been “optional” for me.But I have had many miserable jobs along the way to survive.

3 — Who were your musical influences growing up ?

Same as they are now. Haggard, Willie, Waylon, Rodriguez, Gene Watson, John Conlee, and many more!!

4 — Can you tell the fans about your musical style?

I guess it’s called “Traditional Country” these days. Some might say it’s “Honky Tonk Music,” or maybe ”Outlaw” or “Texas Music. Of course, everyone has a different definition of what those two things are today.”Country” is close enough for me.

5 — What was the first song you ever learned?

I don’t think I can even remember that one. But I can remember that Haggard’s “Swinging Doors” was the first song that I ever sang on stage in a beer joint. I was 14.

6 — Can you tell fans what they should expect when attending one of your shows?

Real country music. Mine, along with a lot of my heroes.

7 — Do you prefer to play small venues or bigger venues?

Anywhere they give a damn!! I still do both. But I’m always comfortable in a little smoky, country ”Beer Joint.” I guess that’s because it’s where I came from.

8 — If you could perform with anyone right now who would it be?

I guess it would have to be Haggard or Willie. Can I pick 2?

9 — What is your process for picking songs that may go on an album ?

It really depends on what kind of album I’m wanting to make, which changes from project to project ,of course. My latest album “Kickin’ Down The Doors” is a combination of five of mine, three from old friends of mine, and a couple from two of my heroes.Who knows what’s next at this point.

10 — Can you tell fans how you go about releasing singles to radio?

That is a long and complicated process. But Dillon Steen at Steen Promotions does a great job of handling radio promotions for me. I also release every radio single through a company called CD Tex that sends my music out to radio all over the world through a digital download service. Both of them money well spent.

11— Do you write your own material?

Yes I do. But I’m not one of those guys who only records his own stuff. I have many friends who are great songwriters. I just try to make good music, like the guys who influenced me so much did. They recorded their own songs along with things they liked from their friends and heroes. I kinda do it the same way. There was a time in this business when people recorded things to help their struggling friends out and get them heard. It’s more of a “Me, Me, Me” world that we live in today.

12 — If you could record one song what would it be?

That’s another impossible one for me to answer. But I did just record Merle Haggard’s “If We Make It Through December” to release for the holidays. And I have to say that might have been the most fun that I’ve had recording. That song has always been a part of my life. And is one I’ve always wanted to cut.

13 — Are you signed exclusively with anyone right now for booking or radio?

Steen Entertainment handles some of my booking. And I still do some of it myself. But I’m not exclusive with anyone. Steen Promotions, the radio promotion division of the company, handles all of my radio promotions.

14 — What would you say is the biggest highlight of your career thus far?

I’ve had so many great moments in this business in the last 20 years that it’s hard to say. I spent 15 years in Nashville and met many wonderful friends, along with most of my heroes.I’ve done a lot of things that many folks will never get to do. Recently I’ve spent a lot of time on the road with my friend and music hero Johnny Rodriguez. I’ve been fortunate enough to join him on stage many times. And he even sang one of his big hits, ”I Couldn’t Be Me Without You,” when my wife Kim came down the aisle a few months ago. That was sure one to remember!!!

15 —- Where can fans go to find out more about you?

My website richieallbright.com is the best place. But I have all of the other usual stuff too. Facebook, Reverbnation, etc

16 —Where can fans purchase your music?

They can find it on my website, richieallbright.com. , as well as CdBaby, Itunes, and many places where it’s available for download.

17 — What is on the horizon for you?

If I have anything to say about it, there will be a lot more touring and more albums to come. Just traveling, doing what I love, and meeting lots of good folks along the way. But I realize that we aren’t in control of how and when things happen. So, as usual,we’ll just roll with it, and see where the road takes us. That’s the fun part!!

Richie Allbright is definitely as genuine as they come as far as performers in this business. His music is authentic, raw, and full of emotion that would make fans of “Traditional Country” music, as well as his heroes gleam with pride. I can say that I myself have become a fan and suspect he will gain many more fans as well.
